Day trip to Bornholm and Christiansø
Take a one day trip to the sea fortress of Christiansø. Established as a safe haven for the fleet by king Christian 5, Christiansø is more than 300 years old and lies as an interesting pearl in the Baltic Sea.
Christiansø and the neighbouring island Frederiksø have a population of 100 people in total and make up a well-functioning small community. The two islands are preserved areas, and it is like travelling back in time when you arrive on the ferry.
Take time to explore the spectacular old fortifications, the unique nature, and the wild birdlife. Afterwards you may enjoy a nice lunch on the terrace of the local inn and maybe even try some of the island's famous spicy herrings.
Pick up in Copenhagen
The bus will pick you up in Copenhagen outside the Steno pharmacy and Radisson Blu Royal Hotel on Vesterbrogade near Copenhagen Central Station and have you back by evening.
The bus will drive you across the Oresund Bridge to Simrishamn in southern Sweden, from where you will catch the ferry to Bornholm and Christiansø.
Stop in Allinge on Bornholm
On the return journey there is a two-and-a-half-hours stop in Allinge on Bornholm where you can stroll along the streets, look at shops, or relax in a café before you head back to Copenhagen.
If you prefer to spend the entire day on Bornholm instead of sailing to Christiansø, you can get a day ticket for the local buses - all you need for a self-guided tour of the island.
The day trip tickets can be bought online or inside Copenhagen Visitor Centre.
