Fredericia is home to the leading musical theatre in Denmark.
The theatre exclusively sets up musicals that have never been professionally played in Denmark - many are even European or World premieres. In addition, the theatre provides a wide range of events such as concerts, stand-up, other theatre productions and conferences.
The theatre's goal is to demystify "new" plays and show what the musical genre can do. The theatre believes that there must be something for everyone - even those who don't think musicals are their cup of tea. The creative ambitions and impressive reviews has drawn attention both within Denmark and internationally, and positioned Fredericia Theatre as a remarkable player in the world of musicals.
The theatre is amongst other things known for its musical productions of Disney classics such as Aladdin, which was later reopened at the Opera House in Copenhagen and The Little Mermaid which was also relocated to the Copenhagen Opera House. In 2015 the theatre was hugely successful with their own original production Shu-bi-dua - The Musical which was also set up in both Aarhus and Copenhagen.
In 2016 Fredericia Theatre premiered with another Disney venture: The Hunchback of Notre Dame - The Musical. During the summer of 2017 The Hunchback of Notre Dame played at The Royal Theatre in Copenhagen.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame received more than 25 6-star-reviews and now holds the record for best reviewed show ever in Denmark!
Fredericia Theatre's production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame has now been sold to Sweden as well.
In addition, Fredericia Theatre has also in 2017 produced: Lizzie - The Musical (which was later set up in London), The Trouble with Doug, Legendale and another in-house created original musical Seebach. Seebach broke the theatre's record for pre-sales and only about a week after the premiere Seebach passed 66 sold out shows in Fredericia alone. The production will also be moved to Aarhus and Copenhagen in 2018.
In 2018 Fredericia Theatre will produce and debut the world premiere of Dreamwork's Oscar nominated movie The Prince of Egypt.
The Prince of Egypt will be set up in both Danish and English.
In 2017 Fredericia Theatre was nominated for 3 Reumert prizes and won all three for the production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
