Hanklit

Along the coast of north Mors the characteristic moler slopes rise above the water. The unique moler deposits are used in the manufacturing of high insulation material, fire prevention material, as well as kitty litter. These products are exported all over the world.

The most well known moler formation is Hanklit. In the 61 metres high Hanklit, the dark ribbon of vulcanic ash signifies the dramatic geological history of the island which goes back more than 55 million years.
Both professional and amateur geologists can still find intriguing fossils of animals and plants.

Many of these finds can be seen at the Moler museum near by.
Thousands of tourists make their way to Hanklit each year to visit this unique site.

Please note that it is not allowed to dig or to split stones on the cliff.
